The Music Man

THE FIRST STEP SHALL BE TO LOSE THE WAY.
Galway Kinnell

My youngest son, Weston wanted to go into Film and communications and started in high school at the Career Center, then on to college at Ball State.  He found some friends with music backgrounds and  formed a band, and that's all she wrote.  Much to his parents disappointment he only went to college for one year.   He lives and breaths music.  Unfortunately Art doesn't always pay so he does construction and landscaping for a paycheck.

Ever since he was little he's always had drawing pads close at hand (loved to draw comic strips).  Now he's always got a notebook for writing songs.   Maybe that's what led him into his new hobby of making leather bound journals for his friends and loved ones.  I was one of the lucky ones who received one for Christmas and begged him to make some for UMT.  He agreed, so that will be his contribution to the business, along with posts on music.

,
He plays the base for "Apathy Wizards" and likes to collect vintage sports coats,
western shirts and suits to wear on stage.

The Apathy Wizards sound is described as gypsy folk, pirate punk, if you'd like to give them a listen click on the link.

Rosie Posie

Sky above me, earth below me, fire within me-OWN IT!

Some are just born with a sense of wanderlust, and others need to be where its comfortable and familiar.   Rosemary didn't know what she wanted to do after high school.  I tried to get her to go away to College, she just wasn't ready.   It's not easy to let go of your children and have them move anywhere but I know from experience, you learn and grow when you live in other places.  The best lesson...you appreciate where you came from.

As soon as Rose and Drew married they started making plans to move someplace. It seems they both just needed each other to make a move.  Low and behold they ended up in Lakewood, Colorado.   Its a suburb of Denver but they get up in the mountains whenever they have a free day to hike and explore new turf.  They still haven't used the ski passes we gave them a year ago and hope to very soon!

My daughter was never in to vintage clothes.  She loved all the little dresses that her grandma and I made her when she was little, but the bottom line was that she wanted to fit in, and she loved to shop.  My sons have always been vintage shoppers,  Rose is more of a bargain hunter and is very good at it.  So my challenge for her will be to show our readers how to assemble a great mix of items vintage with new.

I used to make her model my Global Warming sweaters
and Rumspringawear.

Her first love- Pax :)

Anyways,  being the only daughter who grew up between her brothers on a small farm,  she has always been a little bit of a tomboy, loves sports, animals and people.  She also has a blog "Mile High Hoosier" if you'd like to follow.

I've started loading a few items on to our etsy shop and hope to have it open for business very soon!

IN A NUTSHELL

Wherever you go, go with all your heart.

     -Confucius

I've lived in some incredible places, but as the ole saying goes, "You can always go home again" and I did.  Now my oldest (Jeramiah) lives where he was born.  The Big Island of Hawaii, and my middle child Rosemary and her husband Drew, live where I first moved, ( Colorado).  Weston youngest lives in Muncie, IN  approximately 2 hours from Middlebury, where I live.  Do I dare say "He's just getting started?"
I love the fact that they are experiencing life and finding their own way, and frankly that we kind of paved the way for that life.   We all live such different lives with similar meaning,  following our hearts and living a simple life.  We strive to be sustainable, adventurous , organic and healthy and creative.

As a mom I wanted to start this business with my family to keep us more connected, and to bring out the best of us and share it with others who enjoy the same kind of lifestyles.   We are still in the planning stages but it won't be long until our business is all set up!   So here it goes.  This is us!
Me and my kids

Today I'd like to introduce you to Jeramiah (J.D.)  He went to school in Colorado for Outdoor Adventure and has worked at zip lines in Colorado, Hawaii and this summer in Ohio.  He is on a 7 month adventure on the mainland with his dog Makai (another Hawaiian) that started in Indiana in June.  He traveled by a really fat tire surly bike and baby bee carrier (for Makai and his supplies) to Tree Frog Canopy Tours outside of Mansfield, Oh then to Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Colorado, Utah and just ended up in California to visit his dad and Aunt.  You can read more about JD on his blog http://dajungleblog.blogspot.com/.
